Adventure in Boracay Island, Philipines

Boracay was fun and adventurous!

The event that I would probably remember most about this place would be island hopping. It’s a once in a lifetime experience! Why once in a lifetime? Because I won’t repeat that anymore, especially in Boracay! Next time the boatmen would ask if we still want to continue despite the high waves, we would know what to say already. But I must say, the “captain” was very good. Well I’m still alive to tell the tale. Others are not so fortunate, I hear.

Then there’s the Banana boat ride. At 200 Pesos for the short ride, it’s not cheap but it’s definitely exhilarating. Riders beware! You’ve got to hold on tightly to the handles or you’ll get tossed over to the water. Well, at least there’s a life vest.

The island has other attractions, such as horse-back riding, all-terrain-vehicle riding, parasailing (which I really want to try!), and helmet diving, to name a few. I heard there’s even a helicopter ride. Obviously, our cash was not enough to let us experience these other activities.

And who would forget the nightlife? Every few meters of the 5-kilometer stretch of white beach is alive at night with different bands entertaining the crowd. For free! It’s actually this night life that attract most people to the island.

Finally, the trinkets are just so attractive and cheap that it’s tempting to spend lots of money on them. Kids are especially vulnerable to this temptation, to the detriment of their parents’ wallets.

Boracay is such a flurry of activities. That’s exactly why it’s a worthwhile travel destination. But to make the most of this experience, one’s got to have cash.
